MISSIONS

Oakwood Home For Women in Recovery: Oakwood was founded by members of St. Luke’s, along with
others in the community, to fulfill a need for a structured environment for women attempting to turn their lives
around from the destruction of addiction to alcohol and drugs.

Pumpkin Patch:  In October, we sell pumpkins.  The money which this project generates is strictly for mission
work. Some of the people who have benefited from these efforts include Providence House, Sager Brown, Ruston
Children’s Home, Oakwood Home for Women, and many more.

Vacation Bible School:  This is a traditional time for learning about the Bible, the Church, and God’s love. For
one week during the summer, we concentrate on a special theme.  While learning together as a group, we place
importance on Christian life.  VBS will be July 10-14, 2006.

Weekend of the C.R.O.S.S.:  This event is held in the Shreveport/Bossier area.  Youth from all over
Shreveport/Bossier meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the elderly, poor and/or disabled by
serving them.  Youth and adults have a cross-cultural experience without leaving their own area, forcing them to
realize the cultural, economic, and racial make-up of their community.
