Music Ministry

Worship is the heartbeat of the congregation of St. Luke’s and it is our goal to provide something for everyone, regardless of musical ability, at one of our two worship experiences on Sunday morning.

Our 8:30 traditional worship service is laced with the traditional hymns and features special music from our quartet, Handbell Choir, and various soloists throughout the year.

Our 10:45 worship service is a mix of modern contemporary music as well as the traditional hymns of faith. Music at this service is led by our Adult Chancel Choir but also features our other groups within Music Ministry, such as our quartet, Handbell Choir and soloists.

It is the goal of the music ministries of St. Luke's to provide our congregation with a worship experience on Sunday mornings that is meaningful as they continue on their spiritual journey, and also provide a safe place for people of various music abilities to share their gifts and talents in an effective way. Many of our musicians and singers have limited, or no musical education or training, but have a love for God and want to share the gifts that He has given them. We strive to make a place for that to happen, and for God to work through us to share our love of Christ with the congregation.

CHANCEL CHOIR
Rehearsal Time:  Wednesday 6:30 - 7:30pm
The Chancel Choir is the primary musical organization for adults, providing musical leadership at the 10:45am worship service each Sunday. The choir sings all forms of sacred music from the great classics of the church to contemporary anthems and spirituals. This group, while predominantly made up of adults, is also open to college students and youth.

HANDBELL CHOIR
Rehearsal Time: Thursday 6:00 – 6:30, Bell Room
Our Handbell group is for complete beginners with no musical knowledge through the advanced ringer. This group plays regularly in Sunday morning worship at both services and is also active in outreach events throughout the year such as visiting nursing homes, playing at The Rose Center at Christmas, and other events.

QUARTET
Our quartet sings on a monthly basis at both services and sings a wide variety of musical styles from the traditional hymns of faith, to gospel favorites and the more modern worship songs of our time.

CHILDREN'S CHOIR
Our children traditionally sing at various times during the year, in particular Christmas and Easter (Palm Sunday). Children in Kindergarten through 5th grade are invited to sing with us on these occasions.
